What a head of stucco to scare?
This sculpture is a representation of the sun god. We know that this is God by your traditional eye in a spiral and by his tooth in the shape of a ‘T’.
That ‘T’ is the symbol Iq of the mayan calendar. Represents the wind and the breath of life. Several palaces and mayan temples have windows in this way.
The God is painted red and has at its head a headdress of Tlaloc, the rain god mexica, that the maya considered also a harbinger of war and destruction.
We don’t know exactly the use of this piece, but by their countenance and their symbols, we think that it was a harbinger of a time of war.
