
This detailed figurine comes from the Island of Jaina, famous for its multiple figures of pottery that depict scenes from the life of maya.
This figure in particular representanta to the powerful goddess Chak Chel, one of the goddesses creators of the universe. Patron saint of births, labor, tissues, healing, destruction and divination (among many other things). They are recognized as the counterpart of Chaac, the rain god, and in turn, it is the version old woman of Ix Chel, the goddess of the moon.
There are usually represented as a goddess is benevolent, but as a warrior powerful, often associated with the water, the jaguars and the dark. Her skirt is usually made of human bones, and some times you see it with claws. In the figure we see it turned into a feline, with a shield and probably carried an axe in the right hand.
