The Códice Maya de México

The Codex Maya, Mexico (also called a Codex Grolier) is one of the four mayan codices of pre-hispanic, which still remain. According to studies it has been established that the codex was created between 1021 and 1154 of our era, to the time you had to have a useful life of approximately 104 years which makes it the codex, the oldest of America.

It is not known when or where it was found but it is believed that was built inside a cave in Chiapas, mexico. The code was purchased by Joshua Saenz, a well-known collector mexican who purchased it from looters in 1964. It was recovered by mexican researchers until 1971.

It is believed that originally would have about 20 leaves, of which only kept 11 pieces, although everything seems to indicate that in reality are 10 page 11 is a fragment belonging to the page 10.
