Stela 11 of Kaminal Juyu

Underneath what is now the City of Guatemala, are the remains of the great city of Kaminal Juyu, perhaps the metropolis most powerful of the central valley mesoaméricano in the preclassic period. Inhabited since around 1200. C. to about 900 d. C.

The stele in the publication is the stela 11 of Kaminal Juyu, shows possibly one of their rulers walking and holding a kind of axe or a cane, on his face is a mask of a bird and its sides there is incense burning. In your arms has secured some platforms, which may have represented wings, to complete your outfit ave.

The stela was discovered in the central Acropolis of the city, which is the only one that is preserved to the present day. This trail is part of the permanent galleries of the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology in Guatemala.
