Outstanding anthropomorphic Classical period, made of shell.

Has the form of a face with eyes, holes in the nose and the mouth slightly open, down.
Around the face has nine holes, the two larger sides of the face, surely, to suspend it from a string.
For the maya, the shells were sacred to come from the sea. The shell was not only used as a garnish and as a material for preparing accounts, mosaics, earrings and a wide variety of ornaments -disc-like the lace that is sewn to the clothes – but also as a badge of nobility.
