Incidents of travel in Central america

Frederick Cartherwood was an explorer, artist, architect, and English photographer famous for his explorations of the ruins of the maya civilization in the company of the american writer John Lloyd Stephens.

Together they published the book Incidents of travel in Central america, Chiapas, and Yucatan in 1841, with text of Stephens, and illustrations-based on the drawings of Catherwood.
Stephens and Catherwood returned to visit the area in 1842 and 1843.
