Gold in ball game maya ✨

Unfortunately, this discipline is not olympic size, but it is a sport, a millennial, full of history and tradition. This incredible vase, found at a staircase in Rio Azul, Peten, Guatemala, allows us to imagine how were these exciting encounters.

In the scene, there are two players, both men, with the clothing used in a ball game. At the center of the glass, between the two players, is the ball of rubber that was used for play.

We can see fascinating details: a belt, a player with a headdress of dog (image 3) and the other with a headdress deer (figure 4), possibly, representing their teams. The player on the left wears a dress of jaguar skin, while the other wears a dress textile decorated with paint. Both are embellished with jewelry: one with ear muffs and another with a collar.

The structure of the game of ball is visible, with the steps painted. This finding makes us feel as if we were watching the olympic games of old, waiting with excitement that our favorite team win. 🌟

Tell us in the comments which team you’d go.
