Altar of the dynasty Kaanul

The Crown has been an important excavation site in recent years and in 2017 we found a beautiful altar that reveals part of the history of the dynasty Kaanul, a dynasty fairly important in the area.

The altar is of limestone, and measures of 1.46 meters long and 1.20 meters wide, is carved to form a deep embossed that shows the image of the king Chak Took Ichaak sitting in profile and facing to the left. The ruler is holding a scepter with the image of a snake with two heads, of which there are two human faces that have been identified as the patron gods of The Crown.

20 years after invoking the gods, ancestral, the same king Chak Took Ichaak and his son appear as sovereign of the nearest and largest city of El Peru-Waka, which seems to indicate that Chak Took Ichaak sought the blessing of their ancestors before you embark on the conquest.
