The Temple I or the Temple of the inscriptions

The Temple I or the Temple of the inscriptions, is the tallest and largest building, and most important of the ancient city of Lakam Ha, capital of the kingdom of Baakal, during the period of the late Classic period, currently based in the mexican state of Chiapas, near the Usumacinta River. It was built under the reign of K’inich Janaab Pakal, a ‘Crest Ave-Hanab Face Solar’, also called Pakal or Pakal the Great (603 d. C. – 683 d. C.) ajaw or ruler of Palenque, conceived solely to glorify the contractor on the life and hold your body when he died. Within Palenque, the Temple of the Inscriptions is located in an area known as the Great Square in the top of a hill with a natural slope, and it is situated at a right angle to the southeast of the Palace.
