Sayil was an important maya city during the terminal classic, based their power and wealth, at least in part, on agriculture.
Highlights of this city, his devoted and beautiful architecture and, above all, his great palace.
This palace has a facade of 85 m. and is built on a platform of double terrace, which gives the impression that the building is three stories tall. Several rooms are distributed around each terrace. The palace was built in several stages, over a span indeterminate, during the terminal classic period. There is a central staircase, in the southern part of the structure, which allows access to the upper levels of the palace. The first and second levels contain structures that were demolished in a certain period of time, to give way to the building existing on the date.
In the last picture you can see a map of the palace.
