This beautiful panel was carved some time between the seventh century and X, although it is not known with certainty of his origin, it is widely believed that it comes from The Chicozapote tree, a site nearby Yaxchilan, as it presents many similarities with other murals in the area.
The bodies of the two characters on the stele were painted in red color and the artist intentionally marked the musculature of each one, to make them look athletic and strong. It is known that both are priests, by their headdress, and both show the front flattened due to cranial deformation intentional (this is why your eyes become almond-shaped and oblique).
The two characters seem to discuss some important issue. It is known that the position of the hands have meanings in the stele maya, but these meanings have not yet been deciphered. At the center, there is an empty box, this box could have contained any plate with any message, or you may be left incomplete, for some unknown reason.
The piece is part of the collection of the @museoamparo
