In this polychrome vase, we see a scene palatial where four characters interact around a dignitary. In the background are seen the columns and hanging curtains, elements often found in this type of scenes.
The two characters standing in front of the dignitary, they probably represent members of elite alien, or of the royal court. The first of them is delivering a bowl as an offering to the ruler, while that, which is right behind him, watching in a position of respect, as it denotes the left arm folded over his shoulder. The hieroglyphic text associated identifies him as a noble military, who holds the titles b aah pakal ch’ok ‘ajk’uhu’n ‘anaab’ “first shield, a young priest, worshipper”.
The main character is a ruler obese, with an elaborate headdress of feathers and a huge mask of toad, with its own headdress of the so-called “god’s jester”. Behind him, you can see a bench, and a mirror of obsidian in the notes to himself. The gloss hieroglyphic associated with your person, identifies him as a ruler of the lordship of Motul de San José: ‘ub’aah joyal Sihyaj Chan K’awiil k uhul ‘Ik’ ‘ajaw “image [de la] inauguration [en el poder de] Sihyaj Chan K’awiil, the divine lord [del señorío] ‘Ik’”.
