Dish of Tikal or its surroundings

This beautiful dish of the classic maya, comes probably from Tikal and its surrounding areas.

We can see the God of the corn (a symbol of beauty, youth and life) reborn from the netherworld while he was dancing. He is standing on a skull.

The right side is Pawatun, with its traditional seashell and on the left side of a figure with a headdress of crocodile, everything seems to indicate that the God is reborn thanks to the so-called deities of the water. On the plate we can also see a heron with a fish in the mouth, and some people kneeling surprised by the event.

This kind of dishes I used to use to serve corn tamales. Same as they still consume throughout the maya area.
