Glass representation of the Jaguar God

This beautiful glass of the classic period represents the scene of some myth that it was lost in time and from which we do not have a lot of information.

The scene shows the Jaguar God of the underworld doing different movements. It was believed that when they hid the sun, this is set out in the underworld and was helped by this God to dawn again the next day.

This vessel seems to have been very valuable, the owners appreciated so much that when he fractured in antiquity, drilled holes in the crack to repair it with fiber. The style of this vase was typical of the city of Orange, and have some appeared to be synonymous with luxury and artistic ability.
