Incense burner of king K’inich Yax Kuk Mo

This curious incense burner was found at Copan and is believed to represent the famed king K’inich Yax Kuk Mo.

K’inich Yax Kuk Mo ‘ruled the city of Copan from the year 426 until the year 437. He was the founder and first king of the dynasty that ruled Copán for almost four centuries.

All representations of this king are extremely interesting since they are not used to be represented using clothing mayan but rather Teotihuacana, that is to say, of the center of Mexico.

For a long time it was thought that came from Teotihuacan, but after meeting his tomb was able to corroborate that he was born and spent his youth rather in Tikal. So it is presumed that he could have spent several years in Teotihuacan training in any discipline.
