View from the royal palace
Right next to temple I, Tikal, is the so called Central Acropolis. A magnificent palace, which served the double purpose of accommodating royalty and as the administrative center of the city. It is believed that several of the functions of public administration is carried out in this place.
The palace stands on an iron artificial stone that reaches up to 253 meters above sea level.
In spite of being one of the complex’s large Tikal, were found a few burials beneath the structures, which seems to indicate that this space was not a permanent residence but rather, a temporary place of residence, it is likely that the facilities were also a school type monastery and retreat houses ritual.
