In this beautiful glass we can see it in all its splendor as the philosophy and narrative maya are expressed through art.
The main theme of this vessel is the necessary interaction of the rains and death to produce life.
The left side (image 3) is Chahk, the God of rain dancing happily, in his right hand we can see the axe used to cut the clouds and make it rain. In the middle of the image, we can see a jaguar baby (image 4) lying on the representation of a mountain, while on the right side (figure 5) we see the God of death, also dancing, surrounded by things broken down.
Chahk in all its splendor emerges and interacts with a cave while celebrating the birth of the baby jaguar. The pose of the god of death seems to show that the baby jaguar was snatched from the clutches of death dance of Chahk, thanks to the rain.
The artist wanted us to understand that the decomposition is born to life, and that the rain renews the cycle key.
Images of the @metmuseum, the vessel was plundered and belongs to the Rockefeller Memorial Collection
